We’re excited to announce that beginning January 1, 2026, the Oregon Techworks Association medical plan for Oregon-based employees will transition from United Healthcare to Providence Health Plan.
This decision follows a thorough review of our benefits strategy, ensuring members receive high-quality care, predictable costs, and easy access to providers locally and nationwide.
A Valued Partnership and a New Chapter
Our current partnership with United Healthcare has served our members well, and we deeply value that relationship and the years of support they’ve provided to our technology community. Their commitment to quality care and service helped us build a strong foundation for our member benefits.
By partnering with Providence Health Plan, we’re building on that success — enhancing our offerings with local strength, national reach, and a more integrated member experience.
Why Providence Health Plan
- Local strength – Providence is rooted in Oregon and Washington, partnering with the state’s most trusted hospitals and care providers, including Providence, Legacy, and OHSU.
- National reach – Through the Cigna PPO network, Providence offers nationwide access to care. We recognize that Techworks members live and work across the U.S. — and this partnership ensures you can find in-network care wherever you are.
- Simplified experience – Providence provides coordinated care across medical, pharmacy, and behavioral health, with intuitive digital tools and a unified member experience.
- Strong member support – Local service teams are known for responsive, compassionate assistance and efficient claims handling.
- Sustainable costs – This transition allows Techworks to manage future plan costs while maintaining excellent coverage and provider choice.
What the Change Means for Members
- Seamless local and national access – Whether you’re based in Oregon or another state, you’ll have access to a comprehensive provider network through Providence and Cigna.
- Simplified tools and resources – The MyProvidence portal makes it easy to manage benefits, find doctors, review claims, and access care anytime.
- Predictable, sustainable costs – The plan is designed to deliver value and stability for both employers and employees.
- Continued focus on quality care – Providence’s coordinated model keeps members at the center of care decisions, improving overall experience and outcomes.
- Support for mobile and hybrid professionals – With the national Cigna PPO network, you’ll have access to care anywhere in the U.S., ensuring flexibility for our distributed workforce.
